It works in the body to prevent the actions of androgens (male hormones).
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
Flutamide is not indicated for use by women. Flutamide is in the FDA pregnancy category D. This means that it is known to harm an unborn baby. Do not take flutamide if your partner is planning to become pregnant.
Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Do not take your medicine more often than directed. Flutamide is usually taken three times a day (every 8 hours). Follow your doctor's instructions. Finish the full course prescribed by your doctor or health care professional, even if the capsules make you feel sick. Do not stop taking except on the advice of your doctor or health care professional.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the dose you missed and take only your next regularly scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose of this medication.
